A Spiral’s Life For Me

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to quickly touch base and chat a little bit!

First things first, I wanted to clarify a few things that are occasionally mentioned to me in game.

  • Although I’m a very active community member, I don’t work for KingsIsle. Sometimes people will ask me to fix something on their account and I just don’t have that ability. If you are ever in need of account help, I would email KingsIsle’s support team at support@wizard101.com or support@pirate101.com (depending on the game you need help in).
  • I’m currently an unofficial fansite. A lot of people who I stumble onto in game seem to think that my site is official, but that isn’t the case. I’ve bought all of my contest prizes myself (except the Ninja Pig Companion which came about because I visited the KingsIsle booth at SXSW). It’s an expensive endeavor, but I love this community and don’t mind giving back to it. By the way, despite not being provided by KingsIsle, my codes are 100% legitimate. I either buy gift cards in stores near me or order gift certificates off the official Wizard101/Pirate101 site.

With that out of the way, now on to the good stuff!

Musk

As I’m sure many of you have heard, Blind Mew has encouraged Pirate101 players to recruit more people. The more people play Pirate101, the more content the game gets, the more happy the community is! Now, recruiting new players is a much harder task than it seems. However, if we take it one step at a time, I believe we’ll get there.

Up until this point, I’ve mainly written about Wizard101. I haven’t avoided Pirate101 purposefully, I just wanted to give myself some time to understand the basic mechanics and workings of the game before I went and wrote about it. With that said, I’ve been questing my pirate more and more recently and I think I’m ready. I want to help Pirate101, and I think a great way for me to start doing that is to start writing about it here on my site. Truthfully, I’ve wanted to write about Pirate101 for awhile now and I’m really excited that it will finally be happening!

But that’s just me. If we want Pirate101 to continue to thrive, we’ll need everybody to pitch in. Here are some ideas:

  • Tell friends and family about the game. Most posts about Pirate101 stay in the existing KingsIsle community. If we want to reach new people, we have to branch out into the unknown. Share Pirate101 posts on your IRL social media and see what happens!
  • Get Pirate101’s name out there on other gaming sites. MMORPG and Massively Overpowered are two gaming sites that cover Pirate101. Anytime they post about Pirate101 – like, comment, share, post a comment! Show that site that you want to see more Pirate101 articles. There are many more additional MMORPG sites out there, reach out to them and see if they cover Pirate101.
  • Try to stay positive. No update is perfect, and I’m aware that not everybody was 100% happy with the Valencia Part Two update. But if all anybody sees is negativity, why would someone new want to try that game? Maintain a positive atmosphere that encourages new participation. Constructive criticism is fine, but try not to resort to bashing.

One last thing I want to talk about: Mobile Games. Please keep an open mind. KingsIsle’s mobile games are actually very high quality, and I think it’s a shame that they don’t get the attention they deserve. We have to remember that KingsIsle is one company and all of their products are somewhat connected. If MMO players boycott KingsIsle’s mobile games, the company will lose money and that just makes Wizard101 and Pirate101 suffer even more. All I ask is that everyone keeps an open mind and just gives them a try. If you don’t like them after playing them, then that’s totally fine! I just don’t want people disliking the mobile games simply out of spite.

Thank you all for reading and I look forward to the future. If you have any blog post requests/ideas/suggestions, leave them in the comments below!
