Battle Etiquette

Saving the spiral with others is always fun! However, I think it’s important that players be mindful of the other people around them. Not doing so may lead to some disagreements and upset friends. Here are a few tips that can make you a great team player!

  • Before you join a mob battle or hop on the sigils with others, first ask if it’s okay. Some people may want to solo a dungeon or don’t want other enemies being dragged into their battle. Asking first only takes a second to do and shows that you are conscious of other players’ interests.
  • If you have someone on your friends list, ask before porting to them. Just like the above bullet, asking before porting to someone is a good habit to get into. Often people port to their friends not knowing they are in a battle and end up fleeing –  leaving extra enemies in the fight for their friend to deal with. Be aware of where your friends are and make sure they are okay with you porting to them.
  • Be open to suggestions and different strategies. There are many ways to go about defeating a boss and being flexible and open minded will make everyone feel more comfortable and confident. Don’t refuse to change up your deck because you think that your way is the “best” way. Teamwork is key. Who knows, you may be surprised by the end result!
  • Don’t be afraid to offer feedback, but be careful how you approach it. Providing tips and improvements can help produce tremendous player growth, but you don’t want to come off as bossy. Try to offer constructive criticism rather than stone cold bashing. For example, try saying things like “I like your ideas, but maybe doing xyz might be more effective” instead of “No, that’s wrong. Do this instead.”
  • What’s theirs is not always yours. If your team has multiple hitters, there may be a feint/universal trap problem. In some cases, people are okay with anyone using their traps … but others are not. If someone places a feint or a trap that will be triggered by an attack of yours, just double check that it’s okay to use it. People can get really frustrated when you use their traps without asking!
  • Make sure everyone gets the drops and completes the dungeon. Some boss fights in the lower level worlds can be completed in one round (especially if you’re farming). If someone doesn’t make it into the battle on the first round, pass before you attack so they will be able to get the drops and credit. The same goes for when a teammate of yours is defeated. Wait until they are healed or flee and return until you deliver the final blow. If a player on your team is low on health and may be defeated on the hit round, it might be a good idea to pass until someone has a heal to be safe.
  • Be kind and supportive. We all want the same thing – to save the spiral! Your team may make mistakes, but that’s okay! Don’t dwell on the things that went wrong, be confident that you’ll be able to recover and smash those baddies to bits!
