Hello everyone! If you follow me on Twitter, you may have noticed that I’ve been working on a way to help the people affected by Hurricane Harvey. The devastating storm rattled many areas of Texas, and its destruction has displaced thousands of people and killed numerous others. The buildings and homes that escaped collapse, excessive damage, or catastrophic flooding are without electricity or running water. And according to USA Today, Hurricane Harvey is on track to be the costliest natural disaster in US History. Relief resources are short, and I want to help in any way I can.
The Backstory
Over the summer, I was asked by a few people in the community if The Untold Spiral would ever do a T-shirt campaign. And although I actually do have 2 Untold Spiral T-shirts for myself as a keepsake, I never thought about selling any. The last thing I wanted to do was throw unwanted merchandise in people’s faces. However, the expressed interest in a possible T-shirt campaign got me thinking. Maybe I should do one? However, if I did, I knew I wanted it to have an extra layer to it. People who know me know that I love to help people. That’s why I make guides for the community and help complete strangers though difficult instances. Sooo … I thought it might be a good idea to do a charity T-shirt campaign. And that was the plan – in December, I was going to hold an Untold Spiral charity T-shirt campaign for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Then Hurricane Harvey happened.
Hurricane Harvey hits home for me for many reasons. First, I attend college in Texas. Although I’m thankful that San Antonio (where my college is) didn’t get hit very hard, I do have numerous friends and even family members who live in the highly impacted cities. Second, Texas is where KingsIsle employees and numerous KingsIsle community members call home. In particular, I know Mike FireHammer is from Corpus Christi – a city on the Texas coast. He had to evacuate, and is set to hold a charity stream to raise money for other families affected. Be sure to check that out here.
Since Hurricane Harvey was so devastating, and it hit a state very close to my heart, it was a no-brainer to move the T-shirt campaign up and donate all profits to the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund.
The T-Shirt Campaign
The Untold Spiral Hurricane Harvey T-shirt campaign will start TODAY and end on October 1st (so you have about a month to buy!). ALL T-shirt profits will be donated directly to the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund. In case you’re skeptical, you can hover over the “Verified” stamp on my T-shirt campaign to see this:
100% of the profits!
About the Shirt: I tried to take my blog’s identity and present it in a very simple and clean way. Even if someone knew nothing about me or KingsIsle games, I wanted them to say, “Hey, that looks kinda cool.” I’m EXTREMELY happy with the end result and think the design speaks for itself. Shoutout to Chris (a very nice and amazingly talented graphic designer friend) in New Jersey who helped put my poorly sketched ideas into an out of this world reality.
